Fight against bad odors in your junk

The odors caused by garbage are persistent and can withstand bleach. Although it may seem difficult, eliminating odors emanating from the junk can be accomplished with a few simple tips:

  • Put boiling water inside the junk can to take off the oldest waste.
  • Rub vigorously with a sponge and soap to remove the traces inside the bin.
  • Pour a few drops of lavender essential oil in the junk.

A traditional trick also eliminates bad odors. Just sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of the container. Other products can also replace this white powder commonly used for household cleaning:

The cat litter is specially designed to retain the bad odors given off by the urine and droppings of felines. It is also effective against foul odors from the garbage, but must be changed each time the container is cleaned, that is to say once a week.

The essential oil of camphor is known for its deodorizing properties. It is very effective against rotting odors released by garbage cans. To do this, pour a few drops of camphor under the lid of the bin before closing it in order to eradicate bad odors. The coffee: its specific scent will hide the garbage.

Note that lemon essential oil and other essences are also effective in eliminating bad odors.

Remove insects and worms from your junk

The accumulation of garbage in the junk for some time favors the appearance of unwanted worms. Indeed, the latter feed on food waste. Also, to eliminate them, a few guidelines are in order:

  • Spread boiling water in the junk can before turning the junk can upside down to let the liquid run out.
  • Pour an anti-larvae product in the junk to break the vermin reproduction cycle.
  • This operation is to be repeated once a month, as a preventive measure.

Dry the junk and avoid wet waste

The cleaning of the dustbin ends with its drying. In fact, humidity is a favorable environment for the development of bacteria and microbes. Air drying is recommended. Finally, a few simple tips are effective in removing moisture in the junk:

  • Avoid throwing away bottles containing liquid without closing them.
  • Hermetically wrap wet waste such as fruits or vegetables.
  • Regularly wipe off all traces of moisture.
