Essential Tips for Cleaning your Carpets by Steam Cleaner

The cleaner the carpet is, the more attractive it will look. If you want your carpet to go well with the other interior decoration, you should keep your carpet clean. Often, many people hire professionals for the carpet cleaning. They think that it is a difficult task. Cleaning carpet is not a difficult task especially if you know a few hacks. There are many hacks but today which I am going to explain is steam cleaning. Carpet steam cleaners were developed to clean the parts of the carpets that vacuum is unable to do. Steam cleaners are great to use on carpets that are stained and filthy.

How to clean carpets by steam cleaner?

  • Clear the Room

The first step is to clear the room. The steam mops are operated by pulling and pushing so if the carpet is clear from items then it will be easy to pull and push steam mops. The items on the carpets can slow down and disturb the process of cleaning. If the furniture is heavy then cover the leg of the furniture with tape, so the furniture may protect from the water. If you do not have another room or space for keeping the furniture then you can place the furniture and other items in the same corner of the room.

  • Run Vacuum Machine

After clearing the room, run a vacuum machine on the carpet. Make sure you are vacuuming slowly. Otherwise, the dust and dirt particles may remain on the carpet. For the first time run the vacuuming in one direction and for the second time run the vacuuming in the opposite direction. Steam Cleaner is not capable of removing solid dirt particles and that’s why vacuuming is recommended before steam cleaning.

  • Blot Spot Stains

Stains like food, blood, lipstick and pet urine cannot remove from either vacuuming or steam cleaning. You have to adopt a different technique for this purpose. Take a piece of white cloth and put it on the side area of the stain. Do not rub the stain. Just allow it to sit for a few minutes.

  • Just Preparation

After this, you have to prepare the steam cleaner. If your steam cleaner is detachable then remove the water tank. Fill the tank with distilled water by following the advice of manufacturers by using a measuring cup. For your satisfaction, you can add whiter vinegar or cleaning solution. However, you can use only water. The steam is enough to remove stains.

  • Run Steam Cleaner

Now it’s time for the action. Run the cleaner from the corner to the opposite wall and then back. The steam cleaner works slower than the vacuum cleaner so running the steam cleaner too fast will not give it time to suck up the water.

  • Allow the Carpet to Dry

Now don’t allow anyone to walk on the carpet until it is dry. Some carpets take 5-9 hours to dry and some take half or complete a day.
